Greg.

This is my friend Greg. He was generous enough to let me take photos of him for over an hour today. My photo assignment this week was to shoot portraits, which just so happen to be my favorite type of photos to take. We shot in the olive grove, but the lighting was really harsh. Lucky for me, Greg was incredibly patient as I worked to find the best lighting and make due with what I had.

Shooting photos with Greg reminded me of why I love taking portraits so much; there are two reasons. I love looking at my final products and feeling like I really captured the essence of a person. But my favorite part comes long before that—I love the interactions I have with the person that I'm shooting photos of. You might be surprised how much you learn about a person when working in that type of setting. Greg was a lot of fun to work with, because he went with the flow, and we laughed through most of the shoot.

That's my favorite type of shoot.
They are such a joy to experience.
